How to make Lassi probiotic drink

The easy and simple guide and the top 4 bartender tips related to this probiotic, yogurt based drink.

I couldn’t think of nothing easier than a probiotic Lassi drink, when it comes to something special to introduce in cocktails but also to the everyday diet.

I have decided to start probiotic home-made drinks last year, 2018 in a sunny day at home, in London … when I started hearing about healthy drinking and fermentations, superfoods and how to blend the two concept and shake them together

Trying to figure out what could be done in the easiest and cheapest way to introduce a good amount of health to my breakfast, it was a life changing, and I really mean it ; I recommend to try switching the usual milk based milkshakes to this frozen zingy, aromatic , fruity new drink!

 I came across the recipe of the indian Lassi, a simple yet delicious and refreshing drink made just with the ordinary ingredients we have at home, IT ORIGINATED IN INDIAN SUBCONTINENT, circa 500 years a go

…and still highly popular in the asian continent nowadays

You will need a little investment of less than 5 £ at the groceries shop:

What do you need for Lassi Drinks:

  • YOGURT
  • WATER
  • SUGAR
  • FEW SPICES
  • ICE

So why not adding a new fancy drink to your cocktail list, to your breakfast and your everyday diet?

“Lassi in cocktails? yes, just give it a chance!”

Instead of whipped cream, instead of cow milk, or instead of a prepared industrial coconut Cream, why not trying a flavoured fruit based Lassi?

Savoury Avocado Lassi RECIPE

  • 1 cup, 250 g of plain, full fat yogurt;
  • 450 ml filtered water;
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 ripe avocado;
  • 1 teaspoons of salt;
  • I suggest to try with 3 cardamoms, 1 stalk of celery
  • Drops of tabasco

PREPARATION: blend the avocado in a classic blender at high speed, adjust the flavour of it with the salt and spices, after blending.
…once the puree is ready… just add it to your yogurt and pour water, all of them must be held in a medium size mason jar, then just seal it, shake it with ice, close it and store it in the fridge for 3  hours at 6 C
It will need a longer infusion due to the presence of the spices , you will need to give it more time to feel that pungent aroma in your drink.
It will be ready! well-infused and flavoured in just two hours, you can taste it on its own or mix it in cocktails if you like!

2 Mixability bar tips:

It works fantastic in a non alcoholic aperitif, paired with crudités, or as a dressing for an exotic salad!

It works fantastic with one shot of mezcal, if the party goes a little boozy!
